N.B. Persian لابي is a loan word from English lobby from Medieval Latin lobium gallery, of Germanic origin; akin to Old High German louba : porch. In English, and as a noun, it also stands for “a group of persons engaged in lobbying especially as representatives of a particular interest group.” As a verb intransitive, English lobby means : to conduct activities aimed at influencing public officials and especially members of a legislative body on legislation, and as a verb transitive : 1. to promote (as a project) or secure the passage of (as legislation) by influencing public officials and, 2. to attempt to influence or sway (as a public official) toward a desired action. As a noun, English lobby has no exact Persian equivalent, but نفوذ would often convey the bulk of the meaning elements of the English, and may be used, albeit with discretion, in its stead.
