Despite evidence of early understanding of wisdom, wisdom-related knowledge and performance seem to develop in late adolescence and early adulthood. Working within this paradigm, Pasupathi and Staudinger found that adolescence (age 15-20) is a lower threshold for the initial emergence of wisdom-related knowledge. Pasupathi, Staudinger, & Baltes (2001) examined the development of wisdom-related performance in adolescence and found that scores increased dramatically with age up to about age 23, then leveled off.
