Bone, dermis, and cartilage just beneath the site of amputation contribute to the regeneration blastema, as do satellite cells from nearby muscles (Morrison et al. 2006).
In contrast to wound healing in mammals, no scar forms, and the dermis does not move with the epidermis to cover the site of amputation.

An invagination from the ectoderm fuses with the middle sac to form the imaginal rudiment, and only the aboral epidermis is derived from the larval dermis.

Comprised of a dermis and epidermis layer, like all skin.
The deeper of the layers is the dermis, containing capillaries and glands and the epidermis is the layer just below the nail plate and moves towards the fingertip with the nail plate.
Human skin is comprised of 2 main layers, the dermis, and the epidermis.
Below this, we have the dermis.
This layer is not part of the skin, but it is anchored to the dermis with collagen bundles, the way it is anchored allows skin to move freely over the deeper tissue layers.
