هانکسیت
Figure 311 Hanksite crystals coated with a mixture of thenardite and other minerals precipitated from the solution formed during a period of deliquescence.
Hanksite, KNa^CSO^CCO^Cl, is another example of a mineral that undergoes decomposition during deliquescence.
At normal room temperatures hanksite is not the least soluble phase in the solution formed as hanksite dissolves.
Figure 3.11 shows the pulverulent coating that forms on hanksite crystals following a period of deliquescence and subsequent drying.
This coating has the same bulk composition as hanksite, but is composed of thenardite, Na2S04, plus at least two other mineral phases.
