ENHANCING POSTCORONARY PERFORMANCE
This is good news because strength training provides many health and fitness benefits to postcoronary patients.
In addition to reducing resting blood pressure and improving blood lipid profiles, resistance exercise has proved to be a produc- tive means for attaining and maintaining desirable body weight, increasing muscle mass and strength, improving physical performance, speeding the recovery from a cardiovascular event, and enhancing self-concept and self-efficacy in postcoronary patients (Faigenbaum et al. 1990; Marzolini et al. 2008; Stewart et al. 1988).
