In this zone, there is old Precambrian metamorphic rocks to the Quaternary active and dormant volcanos [16].
Over 200 meters of Quaternary sediments deposited in this lake indicates the Early Quaternary period to the present.
Some of them such as Maranjab, Zafreh-Qom, Siah Kuh and Davazdah Imam Faults are young and active Quaternary faults.
The geological unit of site No. 1 is young alluvial-proluvial sediments (pebble, gravel and sand) and that of site No. 2 is mostly aeolian deposits (sand dunes) belongs to the Quaternary period [17].
Quaternary deposits in the study area are mostly silty-clay sediments and some sands and evaporites.
