River (riverbank and revetment) improvement for achieving appropriate river environment
Improvement of Riverbank and Water's Edge Area
In the planning/design of riverbank and water's edge area, both flood control function and environmental function (river landscape and natural environmental function) should be secured in the course of considering river channel with cross section sufficient to the planned flow rate.
Points of planning and designing for riverbank, water's edge and revetment are indicated in the followings.
If the natural environment of the riverbank and the waterfront keep good condition, it should be examined if it is possible to prevent causing negative impact, and to preserve current river condition, by studying the liner form or cross section of the river channel.
