(1) It presupposes that submission proves inferiority of nature, yet: (a) wives are not inferior by nature to their husbands yet are to be subject (hypotassOmenoi) to them (Eph. 5:21-22); (b) citizens are not inferior by nature to their governors yet are to be subject (hypotdssesthe) to them (Rom. 13:1); and (c) Jesus was not inferior by nature to Joseph and Mary yet was subject (hypotassOmenos) to them (Luke 2:51).
(2) Therefore it was essential that the one who died as a ransom and satisfaction for man's sin should be both human (to represent human beings properly; 1 Tim. 2:5; Rom. 5:12-19) and God.
(2) Jesus is fully man (John 1:14; 1 Tim. 2:5; Rom. 5:17, 19).
(2) The Bible attributes the same works to Jesus and the Father: raising Jesus' body (John 2:19-21; Acts 2:24); sending the Comforter (John 14:26; 16:7); drawing men to God (John 6:44; 12:32); raising believers' bodies (John 6:40; Rom. 4:17; 1 Cor. 6:14); answering prayer (John 14:14; 16:23); sanctifying (Eph.
, the spirit of holiness [Rom. 1:4], of the law [Rom. 7:6] or covenant [2 Cor. 3:6, 8], etc.)
