Thus, the formation process starts with a fuel molecule containing 12 to 22 carbon atoms and an H/C ratio of about 2, and ends up with particles typically a few hundred nanometers in diameter, composed of spherules 20 to 30 nm in diameter each containing some 105 carbon atoms and having an H/C ratio of about 0.1.
