The algorithm permits stratification and oversampling of urban or rural areas.
GridSample supports typical complex sample designs including stratification, oversampling in urban or rural areas, and sampling of different numbers of households within urban and rural areas (Fig. 1).
Further complexities can be added to the survey design including stratification, oversampling of urban/rural populations, and spatial sampling.

While some gridded population datasets provide estimates of population by age-group and sex [25, 52, 53] or household poverty level [54, 55], GridSample does not currently include a mechanism for non-geographic stratification, though the user could, in principal, sample from gridded population datasets of social-demographic groups.

Following Prandtl and Richardson, Obukhov considered the influence of stable stratification on turbulence.
It is clear that turbulence disturbs stable stratification and increases the potential energy, thus decreasing the kinetic energy of the fluid.
In other words, stratification suppresses tur- bulence.
In addition to the dimension- less Richardson number that quantifies the relative role of stratification and wind shear, Obukhov measured the height in units of the sub-layer where the Richardson number is small and stratification is irrelevant.
In a kind of a bridge between work on stratification and passive scalars, Obukhov considered unstable stratification, accounted for the buoyancy force and defined a new scale above which this force starts to be important (Obukhov, 1959).،Stratification: Thermal stratification within a heat storage system reduces tem- perature degradation.
The degree of stratification is affected by the volume and configuration of the tank, the design of the inlets and outlets, the flow rates of the entering and exiting streams, and the durations of the charging, storing, and discharging periods.
Increasing stratification improves heat storage system efficiency relative to a thermally mixed storage tank.
Four primary factors degrade stored energy by reducing stratification:
