(fiqh) married person’s status (ie for the purpose of classifying gravity of the felony of adultery and sex out of wedlock); the sum of slightly different conditions, according to gender, that give a person the “married person’s status” such conditions, irrespective of their distinctions for either gender, in essence being that the person must : (a) be married, (b) have previously had intercourse with his/her spouse, (c) have had continuous access to his/her spouse for intercourse.
