• the estate of a deceased • inheritance • residue : the part of a testator’s estate or of any part thereof remaining after the satisfaction of all debts, charges of administration, statutory allowances for support of a widow and children, and previous devises and bequests • legacy (ie a bequest or gift of goods and chattels by testament) • patrimony (ie an estate inherited from one’s father or other ancestor) (also an estate or property held by ancient right) • possessions (ie money, estate, property, etc) of a deceased person • hereditary estate • patrimonium : in Civil Law, that which is capable of being possessed by a single person to the exclusion of all others (or which are actually possessed) are said to be in patrimonio; if not capable of being so possessed (or not actually so possessed, they are said to be extra patrimonium)
