(pl: تعزيرات ) (fiqh) canonical punishment for an offensive act considered less serious in nature than those warranting the graver punishment of حد (which see). This is a punishment with a canonically defined maximum limit for each offense and its least severe form to be decided by the judge of a canonical court.
