(broadly or loosely) sexual intercourse – وطي به دبر anal intercourse – وطي به شبهه : Penal insertion into a woman other than one’s true wife without knowledge of either man or woman of the illegitimacy of their intercourse because of its happening under total darkness, each party thinking that the other is his or her true spouse : In the olden days, and among the less affluent sectors of the human communities in the Middle East and Africa, it sometimes happened that married couples, being either in-laws or friends or sometimes total strangers, would find themselves compelled to share one single bedroom between each other for one night or for a longer period which meant that on such occasions two or more couples would consent to sleeping under the same roof with each other, each man being obviously only entitled to his own wife. Now because on such occasions they would choose to sleep in total darkness – since neither couple wished to watch the lovemaking of the other couple(s), nor would they consent to their being watched during intercourse by other couple(s) in the same room – it sometimes happened that by mere miscalculation in the dark one man would mistakenly sleep with a woman other than his own true wife – always in total silence of course – only to find out at in the morning after that he had mistakenly had sex with the wife of another man in that room, a confused intercourse which might even have been innocently reciprocated on his own true wife by another man in the same room due to the deep darkness. This kind of confused intercourse if innocently perpetrated under such environmental conditions is not Islamically considered a sinful act, and is not subject to any sort of punishment. Additionally, if a child is begotten as the result of this class of confused intercourse, affiliation will be subject to its own regulatory tenets.
