Morihei was deeply affected by his many encounters with death during the Great Mongolian Adventure, and upon his return to Japan he intensified his search for the true meaning of budo.
He was skeptical about the new budo, and visited the dojo only in order to defeat Morihei.
In reaction to the makeshift nature of the new arrangements, made in a time of emergency, whereby aikido was reduced to a section of the Butokukai, and in order to preserve the spirit of the budo he had created for future generations, Morihei reestablished the base of the aikido organization in Ibaragi Prefecture.
