'The first wishing seems to have been a hallucinatory cathecting of the memory of satisfac- tion' (Freud, 1900, p. 598).
Wishes, on the other hand, are related to memory traces of satisfaction and are fulfilled through the hallucinatory reproduction of the perceptions that have become signs of this satisfaction.
