2.6.5 Heat Cost Allocators (HCAs)
The fundamental principle of HCAs is the time integration of the measured radiator temperature.
HCAs based on the evaporation principle were applied already in the 1920s.
The HCA has a heat-conducting metallic lower part mounted on the radiator and a glass tube filled with measurement liquid is fitted on this lower part.
In electronic HCAs (Figure below), the tube with measuring liquid is replaced by an electronic sensor.
