In English as “sir”, “duke”, “earl”, “count”, or “Lord.” In Iran, such traditional titles as were either adopted personally, eg by dervishes and Sufis, eg مست علي شاه، معصوم علي شاه، شيخ شاه، سلطان ولد، شاه نعمت‌الله ولي or more often as were conferred on certain people by the king, or by a ranking government authority. The practice of conferring official titles of honor on persons was gradually discontinued in Iran after the Constitutional Revolution toward the end of the nineteenth century. • addition : (at common law, in English) whatever was added to a man’s name by way of title or description.
