ophiolitic material forms the dominant component, it is called an ophiolitic mélange.
Such ophiolitic mélanges are commonly alined along the suture zone between plates after a collision.
During collision, ophiolites from the basement of forearc basins may be accreted onto the adjacent continental crust.
As opposed to subducted ophiolites from the lower plate, they do not experience high-pressure metamorphism un- less they are scraped off and dragged down.
